Hi, I’m Catherine
You’re in the right place if you're looking for compassionate, expert support in overcoming the barriers children face with literacy, language, and communication. Whether you’re a parent, educator, or caregiver, I’m here to help you and the child in your life learn skills and strategies for social, emotional and academic confidence.
I know how overwhelming it can feel when communication barriers make it difficult for children to connect, learn, and thrive. Maybe you're seeing signs of frustration, confusion, or missed opportunities—whether it's in social situations, at school, or at home. I can help- with years of experience and a deep understanding of the unique needs of school-aged children of all backgrounds including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities, I provide the support and guidance that makes all the difference.
Together, we can nurture strengths and build resilience.
My approach is not just simply providing therapy; it’s about seeing the whole child—who they are, their perception of the world, their desires, and their potential.
I approach each child with empathy and tailored strategies that are built on evidence-based practices. I'm trained in methodologies such as Social Thinking, Lively Letters, and DIR Floortime, so I know how to identify strengths and nurture skills that truly matter.
I’ve been working in the field of speech and language therapy for over 10 years, and my focus has been on supporting children with literacy, language, social communication and executive functioning.
Since earning my Bachelor of Science in Speech and Language Therapy from Leeds Beckett University in 2013, I have gained experience in a variety of settings, including schools, private practice, and assessment clinics. Through a combination of personal and professional experience, I’ve realized that success isn't about focusing on changing our external behaviours—it's about identifying the intent behind the behaviours, understanding who the person is, and how they want to connect with and be perceived by others.
Through my training in DIR Floortime 101, Meaningful Speech, Executive Functioning with Sarah Ward, and numerous other workshops and courses, I’ve learned the importance of seeing the child as a person, and not a problem needing to be fixed. I strongly believe in spending time building trust and connection with my clients, so they feel comfortable enough to invite me into their world. Understanding what is motivating, engaging and appealing for my clients helps us work towards their unique goals and tailor strategies to help them grow at their own pace. I also value the importance of working closely with families and educators to create a supportive, collaborative environment.
Being a registered member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Canada (SAC OAC) keeps me grounded in the latest research and best practices, ensuring that the support I offer is effective and up-to-date.
Ultimately, my work is about providing a judgement-free and safe environment, where children gain the skills and confidence they need to thrive in their everyday lives. It’s a journey of progress and I’m here to guide and support them every step of the way.
